My third Class, 3° PED!!!

In my last class, I developed a warm up activity called "Hot Potato", the students had to pass the ball and when I stopped the music, the person who had the ball , was going to open it and  create a sentence using the two words that were in the paper. In this activity, I noticed that they had fun, but the purpose of that, it was to make them to think and produce examples of using simple past tense by themselves.
Then, I continued with the last activity of the previous class in order to finish it because I couldn´t have the opportunity to check the answers. So, I began to ask some of the students the correct answers, almost all the students participate in this activity. Then, I pasted a chart on the board in which students had to write the correct form of the verbs in the spaces. The teacher told me that she liked this activity because students passed to the front and participate. When I reviewed, I noticed that some of them had difficulty in write the verbs, So I asked if someone wanted to write the correct form of the verb, and fortunately, they passed and did it. In addition, I explained the pronunciation of some verbs, but specially the differentiation of the  pronunciation of verb "read" in simple present and simple past. To continued, I asked the students to work in a worksheet in which they had to choose 10 verbs of the charts in simple past tense and write sentences, I was monitoring them meanwhile they had some minutes to do it.Then, I pasted a chart on the board which contained the same directions, So I asked some of them to pass to the front and write a sentences, but in this time they didn't see any chart or notebook, they had to create the sentences without any help. To continue, I checked the sentences and I asked them if the sentences were correct, and some students participate in the correction, So I realized that they were learning, In my opinion, it´s better to work with examples and practice a lot of exercise using different strategies than using just the structure of the simple past, and also students learn easier and more quickly.

To finish, I pasted another chart in which I wrote an example of writing a paragraph using the simple past the topic was "My last vacation" in order to led students know or have an idea about how they could write a paragraph about their last vacation using the simple past tense.

Then, the students had to pass to the front and read what they wrote, but unfortunately, the time wasn´t enough. In general, the teacher told me that she liked the develop of all the class, she told me that she noticed that students participate and learn more in my last class and they had fun too, but what I need to improve was the time which I consider one of my challenges that I need to be careful. Even though, I´m so surprise how much I changed my teaching during all this process of giving classes, I had different experience and I learned of each one, I improved the develop of the activities and meanwhile I was teaching more and more classes, I learned to use different strategies to help or motivate students to be interesting in learning of English language. I hope, I could continue with this improvement in my new classes and my future as an English teacher.

My Second Class, 3°PED

In my second class, I began with an warm up activity using sentences strips, I asked the student to stand up and make three groups, then I gave a bag to each group that contained 3 sentences in pieces of paper that they had to order in the correct way. In this activity, I noticed that they had fun meanwhile they were working and all students were participating too.

Later, I used some charts with some examples of verbs in simple past tense in order to remind the students about the previous class. First, I used a chart with regular verbs, in this chart, I explained them the three different pronunciations with the termination in "ED" of the simple past, so  I focused in the pronunciation and then, I asked them to pronounce the verbs after me.  I used the second chart which contained irregular verbs, and then, in the last chart, I explained them many examples using simple past tense with regular and irregular verbs. In my opinion, when I explain grammar,  I prefer to use examples than structures because it´s easier to the students to understand and pay attention in how they can use the simple past tense.

To continue, the students worked  in a reading;  first, I asked them  to look for new vocabulary, then, I explained the meanings and other examples. Later on, I asked them to read it and finally answers the questions.

Unfortunately, I couldn't finish the class, because one of the coordinators of access English asked everyone to go out. Even though, the teacher told me that I could continue the next class.

This time, I felt that I improved in my teaching, in other words, I have noticed that now I have more ideas to develop my classes than before and thanks good, this class it was successful because students paid attention to the explanation and they liked to participate in all the activities and learn how to use the simple past using regular and irregular verbs and some adverbs of time. I realized that they are a great group.
